Readiness
We have learned that when you live in
the country you had better be prepared to take
care of yourself.  Unlike some folks who have lived
here for decades we are not willing to go without
electricity for long periods of time. Hence
the delivery of a propane tank for our generator that will
keep essential services running- like the freezer full of
food, the refrigerator,hot water and the well pump.
We are ready for winter now.

I went outside early this morning
and captured the sun illuminating the hills to the south.
The oak trees are so pretty with their fall colors.

We will be offline for a few days

Jerusalem Artichoke 
One of our neighbors gave us a
lot of starts for us to plant now
for next years harvest. This
plant produces a perfect protein
in it's tubers. Cannot wait to try them out!

 Greed
The price of gasoline is directly connected
to our lack of self-sufficency
 and oil companies greed.
Price-fixing anyone?


Harvesting
Gave my basil "hedges" a haircut and
made 3 big batches of pesto!
