Word #276, 277 and 278

We will be offline for a few days
so I am posting ahead....

Jerusalem Artichoke
One of our neighbors gave us a
lot of starts for us to plant now
for next years harvest. This
plant produces a perfect protein
in it's tubers. Cannot wait to try them out!

 Greed
The price of gasoline is directly connected
to our lack of self-sufficency
 and oil companies greed.
Price-fixing anyone?

Harvesting
Gave my basil "hedges" a haircut and
made 3 big batches of pesto!

Word 273

Tearjerker
Homegrown onions are the best! Mine were small
this year-but no worries-I made a huge batch of
French Onion soup for the freezer.

Word #232

Sustenance
Tomatoes do not last long in our home.
From the garden to the house they have
been known to disappear. Garden candy!

Word # 194 and 195

Irritation

Libation
It's been a week of irritations.
Pesky gray squirrels and chipmunks
have nibbled down to the ground all
my dill and cilantro. Grrrr.
On top of that my lap top's hard drive
went T.U. and finally and most importantly
our well pump is beginning to fail.
Today is Friday the 13th- I think I'll just stay home
and have a Sierra Nevada Torpedo.....
Cheers everyone and have a good weekend.

Word #153

Eggplants
I made some small poly tunnels to protect the baby
plants from the fierce sun. The kale in the back of the
photo used the tunnel first-now that they are acclimated
I got some eggplant starts and they are settling in under
the tunnel that I moved from the kale.
The little guys in front are my butternut squash that
I started from seeds plus some more eggplant that I
also started from seeds.
Interesting gardening here....
